It's Taiwan
CASTRIES, St. Lucia, Sept 11, CMC –The St. Lucia government says it will maintain diplomatic relations with Taiwan ending months of speculation as to whether it would have ditched Taipei in favour of China.
Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony said however that his St. Lucia Labour Party (SLP) government, which had previously enjoyed diplomatic relations with Beijing, would explore new relationship with China that considers Taiwan a renegade province.
Anthony, in a national broadcast said that his administration’s decision to maintain relations with Taiwan was also due to the improved relations between the two Asian countries in recent years.
St. Lucia had re-established diplomatic ties with Taiwan following the 2006 electoral victory of the United Workers Party (UWP).
