ST GEORGE’S, Grenada, Aug 14, CMC – Hundreds of Carnival revellers face the prospect of being stranded in Grenada after workers of the regional airline, LIAT, Tuesday downed tools in protest over the non-payment of outstanding wages to them.

The Antigua-based airline has already announced the cancellation of several flights in and out of the island Wednesday and Thursday and told passengers who wished to re-book their flights that they would be “allowed to do so without charge for a period of one week from the date of their scheduled travel”.

The workers, represented by the Technical and Allied Workers Union (TAWU), claim they are owed over five million EC dollars (One EC Dollar = US0.37 cents) for overtime and meal allowances dating back to 1983.
