RECALLED
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, Aug 10, CMC – The Trinidad and Tobago government has confirmed that it is recalling its ambassador to the United Nations in Switzerland, Therese Baptiste-Cornelis, a few weeks after she made some controversial statements during a lecture on cultural diversity.
The lecture was uploaded on the social network, “YouTube” and resulted in a storm of criticism for the government after the former health minister spoke on a number of issues including how she met her husband on the internet and her relationship with Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar.
In a brief statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Baptiste-Cornelis is being “recalled to headquarters" and would arrive here on September 3.
