THE VALLEY, Anguilla, July 8, CMC – Veteran Trinidadian calypsonian, Austin Lyons, better known as SuperBlue or Blueboy, the five-time king of soca music, is to guest star at the annual Leeward Islands calypso competition here on August 11, its organiser has said.

The Leeward Island Calypso Committee said the contest will also return to overseas judging as reigning calypso monarchs from Antigua and Barbuda, Montserrat, St Kitts, Nevis, St Maarten, British and US Virgin Islands and host country Anguilla battle for the regional crown.

SuperBlue, a calypsonian, soca musician and lyricist, shot to fame in his first foray into the calypso and soca in 1980 with the hit “Soca Baptist”, penned in 1979.
