GEORGETOWN, Cayman Islands, April 23, CMC – Former government minister Arden McLean is calling on Premier MCkeeva Bush to resign after police confirmed over the weekend that they were investigating the head of government on several matters including a land deal and the importation of explosives into the country.
McLean, a former works and infrastructure minister, who was recently cleared by the Anti-Corruption Commission over allegations that he was allowed to pay his electricity bill more than a year late during a time when government was negotiating its electricity contract with Caribbean Utilities Company, said Premier Bush seems to be involved in a strategy aimed at hoodwinking the population regarding the police probe.
“His claim not to be aware of being under any investigation...disastrously backfired when the UK Overseas Territories Minister and ... the Governor and finally the RCIPS (Royal Cayman islands Police Service) confirmed that indeed he is the subject of not one, not two, but three criminal investigations, with two involving “financial irregularities,” said McLean, a member of the Peoples Progressive Movement (PPM).
